The Eye stars Jessica Alba as blind violinist Sydney Wells who undergoes a cornea transplant to revive her sight, unfortunately for her there's some disturbing side effects that no one considered. The donor was a recently deceased girl from Mexico, who had the ability to foresee death before it happened, now that ability has somewhat passed on to Sydney as she's haunted by the last visions of her donor before she killed herself and the visions of people already dead.
In terms of Asian horror remakes, The Ring still holds the crown as the best, but The Eye is a solid addition that ranks about as good as The Grudge in terms of story and overall creepiness. One thing that consistently seems to creep me out with these films are the Asian kids that always seem to pop out of no where and stare at you, I don't know what it is but they do not cease to be quite creepy. In terms of acting, Jessica Alba actually pulls a surprisingly good performance here, compared to some of her more recent crap; it's too bad she can never seem to land a role with a decent script and believable plot because she certainly has some talent. In the end, if you were a fan of some of the other Asian horror reboots The Eye is worth a look, it's an average horror film that accomplishes what it sets out to do and that is creep you out... just a little.
7/10
