Since day one Scarlett has been a close pick for Answer's Angel, and mainly due to the fact that she is stunningly beautiful, but all that's been holding her back is her acting... which sadly is worth a lot more than looks and must be quite good to get on my list. In my opinion I haven't seen a duller and more one sided actress than Scarlett Johansson. A majority of her films are extremely boring, and her dry emotionless tone is consistent through each of them. The few films I happen to enjoy that Scarlett was in, also happened to be the films she had a particularly small role in or had very few lines, which in turn meant see was in the film to be eye candy and nothing more. I have been consistently giving her a chance by forcing myself to endure some of her films hoping she'll grow out of her daze but I haven't see anything worthy of advancement, until then she leads the way as the top wannabe on my list.

There's no denying she's as beautiful as they come, but her films... yeesh. Her film choices really make no sense, almost as if she's trying too hard to be a bit of everything when she's great in the indie films as it is. There was no reason for her to be in He's Just Not That Into You, Nanny Diaries, The Spirit, even the upcoming Iron Man 2. I think that's an agent telling her she needs to be mainstream.
ReplyDeleteYea out of the handful of her films I have seen, The Prestige and The Island are my favorite. Ironically those are the films she has small roles in and hardly speaks! Personally I'd rather see her in more blockbuster mainstream films like Iron Man 2. See I don't like her roles in low budget, boring independent films, I don't think they help her rather bland acting style any, only promote it.
ReplyDeleteShe's not been great in the acting dept. Most of her films have sucked. She is incredibly hot though. One of the most beautiful women out there right now.
ReplyDeleteShe really is one of the most expressionless actresses out there.
ReplyDeleteAlthough THE NANNY DIARIES don't seem like her genre, I actually think it's one of her films in which she gives the warmest performance in her career (if it can be called "warm" at all).
I guess her coldness was the reason she fit really well as the cold hearted vixen in Justin Timberlake's video WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND which was enormous hit here in Europe of his last album.
I'm actually surprised to see so many agree with me on this. I usually run into people who thinks she's tremendously talented and her films are great. But Keith you took the words right out of my mouth, "most of her films suck." I second that.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen The Nanny Diaries yet, but it does appear to be a film that's a little different than her usual independent drama, so I might actually like that one.
