Captain EO (1986)
How can I mix this month's theme of science fiction with something Michael Jackson related? Well a review of the classic Disneyland 3-D adventure Captain EO of course, which may be making a long awaited return sometime next year. Captain EO saw a ten year run at the Disneyland theme park from 1986 - 1997. This was during the heyday of Jackson's career high, coming off the stellar success of Thriller and just having released Bad, so needless to say the addition of Captain EO was a big hit, and a big disappointment to a lot of people when it closed and was replaced my Honey, I Shrunk The Audience, which now a days is an extremely dated a forgotten series.
Starring Michael Jackson and Angelica Huston, directed by Francis Ford Coppola and produced by George Lucas, Captain EO is really another example of a Michael Jackson's blockbuster sized music videos. While the song We Are Here To Change The World, was never released on any of Michael's solo albums the song and the dance performance of the short films' climax is by far the highlight of the film. There's really no point in summarizing this because you've either already seen this many times before or you need to watch it yourself. It's a classic 80's flashback that ever gets old, and hopefully someday in the near future it will be brought back to the big screen in 3D where it belongs.
