It's a very rare occasion that a sequel to an outstanding film turns out to be as good as or better than the original. So rare that you could probably count the outstanding sequels on one hand! Well add one more film to the Top 10 best sequels, The Bourne Supremacy.

Matt Damon returns in one of his best roles as Jason Bourne, a trained assassin who'd lost his memory in the previous film and is still trying to piece together the mysteries of his tattered past. He's become a little more relaxed and has begun to lead a semi normal life now that Treadstone is shutdown and he's no longer being hunted; at least so he thinks.

In Berlin, Germany a sting operation is being lead by CIA agent Pamela Landy, but the operation is interrupted by an outside source and when the scene is investigated Bourne's fingerprints are the only piece of evidence. Of course it's quite difficult for Bourne to physically botch a CIA operation when he's in another country, but the CIA doesn't know who or where he is, which is why he was a perfect patsy. It's all the work of a rogue CIA agent who's in league with some Russians, attempting to pull off a large and risky operation with Bourne as the bait. The plan was to steal classified Russian documents that the CIA was planning on purchasing, plant Bourne's fingerprints at the scene, send an assassin to kill Bourne, and therefore lead the CIA on a wild goose chase looking for a dead guy who has absolutely no connection to any of it. Unfortunately for them they failed.

The assassin kills Bourne's girlfriend instead, now Bourne is angry and out for revenge. With the CIA thinking he's gone haywire, the Russians after him to finish the job they started, and the rush of more forgotten memories floating back to the surface, Bourne must attempt to stay alive and watch his back as he attempts to figure out what he's been throw into and how he's going to get out of it!

If you were a fan of the original then you'll definitely enjoy this second adventure. Matt Damon is awesome as Jason Bourne and the film has more nonstop action than ever before. What's great about the Bourne series is it isn't your typical action film, it's not James Bond, this is what an action film should be; serious, well written, realistic and enjoyable. There's no Roger Moore's here, and Bourne would give even Daniel Craig a run for his money. The Bourne series is without a doubt one of the best action / thriller series ever made!

9/10
