Valerie Gaunt

Last Updated - 9/3/10

Born: July 9th, 1933 in Stratford-on-Avon, Warwickshire, England
Other notable roles: None

As one of the first real women of Hammer Horror, Valerie Gaunt's career was about as brief as her small roles in both of Hammer's flagship films.  She played the lover of Baron Frankenstein who meets her demise at the hands of the Baron's creature after she threatens to reveal their affair to Frankenstein's finance, and her role as the "vampire woman" in Horror of Dracula helps to jump start one of Hammer's most popular series.  But following those two films Gaunt mysteriously disappeared from the silver screen, no real reason ever given.

Hotness Rating: 6/10
As one of Hammer's first "Glamour Girls" there was really nothing overly glamorous about her but she was well cast for her particular roles.

Acting Rating: 6/10
For me her role in The Curse of Frankenstein left much to be desired, yet her on screen presence and performance in Horror of Dracula is often looked at as the defining moment in the beginning of the company's Horror franchise.

Average Hammer Film Rating: 7/10
While her careered spanned two short film roles they were films that not only jump started the Hammer Horror franchise but went on to become two of Hammer's most popular series, because of this Valerie Gaunt will forever been remembered and appreciated by Hammer's most devoted fans, something that some actors never receive in a career that spans decades.
